Rams’ Keith refutes accusations

Derbyshire police have confirmed that they are looking into allegations of irregular payments being made at the time of the takeover of Derby County.

There was allegedly a £375,000 commission paid when the Rams were taken over in 2003. The Guardian newspaper has apparently seen these documents and have said that the former director of football Murdo Mackay, who resigned last month, has made these allegations.

Mackay, the newspaper claims, alleges that himself Keith and Mackenzie privately agreed that they would receive payments of 125,00 out of 375,000 which was paid to Streamline management as a commission



Both Keith and Mackenzie deny recieving any monies, keith told the guardian “I categorically deny the receipt of secret profits,” Keith said, referring to all these allegations. “This matter is in the hands of my lawyers. This is a key time for the club as it is in a period of transition and my focus is to ensure it is effected as smoothly as possible.” Financial director mackenzie said to the Guardian that he had had these strong allegations made to him before. “I refuted it internally as well,” he said. “I had thought this allegation had gone away but it obviously hasn’t. I’m going to take legal advice.”

With there being no resolution to the takeover imminent, it seems that this will just be another complication in the story of the Rams
