Rams in transfer speculation

The transfer window is two months away but the speculation is already started for the Rams. Former loan striker Arturo Lupoli is reported to be on his way back to Pride Park and the Premiership.

The 20-year-old Italian striker spent a season long loan at Pride Park from Arsenal during last season, and media reports say he is looking at a return after struggling to get into the starting line up at Florentina .

Arturo left England because he was home sick for Italy and took the chance to sign a pre-transfer agreement to the Italian club during his loan spell with Derby County. It hasn`t worked out like he thought and it looks like he will be offered up for a loan spell during the January transfer window.

Billy Davies knows what the Italian U21 International can do and in his time at Pride Park he scored seven goals in his 34 matches and it`s reported they are prepared to gamble on the youngster in the Premier League.

Another player the Rams are said to be interested in is former Scottish PFA young player of the year Derek Riordan. The 24-year-ld won the honour in 2005, following on from current Rams midfielder Stephen Pearson.

Riordan is currently at Celtic but has found it hard to hold down a position in the first team, and has struggled to make the bench at times. He has however managed four goals in his 19 games for Celtic and could add to the Rams firepower.

Championship sides Leicester City and Cardiff have made enquires about his services but he turned them down, a chance to play in the premier league may be different for the striker.

Another reported to be on the Rams hit list is the Argentinean Andres D’Alessandro. The 26-year-old is currently with Zaragoza in Spain but is reported to have had rows with members of the team and management.

Andres has played before in the Premiership in 2005-06 with Portsmouth, and they wanted to keep the Youngster but the lure of the warm Spanish sun saw him sign a season long loan with Real Zaragoza. The loan deal was then made permanent at the start of this season and D’Alessandro signed until 2011.

The attacking midfielder has only scored two goals in 34 games for the Spanish side, but he may be the midfield to spark the Rams and feed Kenny Miller and Rob Earnshaw, but saying that nothing will happen until the January transfer window opens.

A player to leave Pride Park is striker Jon Macken, he has returned to the Championship after agreeing a loan move to Barnsley. The 30-year-old has joined the Tykes in a deal running until 1 January.

The former Preston, Crystal Palace and Manchester City forward signed for the Rams in January and made a handful of appearances to help them win promotion.

But Macken who has not featured for the Rams this season has moved to Oakwell for the chance of first-team football, and he joins up with Rams defender Lewin Nyatanga who is also on loan at Oakwell
