Rams defenders curse strikes again

The injuries in 2007-08 season for the Rams backline has gone from bad to worse and the latest is the news they will have to do without defender Claude Davis for the remainder of the season as he is set for knee surgery.

It`s been a up and down season for Davis, who signed from Sheffield United in the pre-season. He was booed of the pitch after the Rams lost 1-4 to Preston in the cup, but after a error early against Manchester City the big Jamaican defender played well before leaving the ground on 69 minutes.

He missed last week’s Premiership clash with Birmingham and saw a specialist earlier in the week who recommended today’s operation.

Rams boss Paul Jewell say`s Davis has been playing with the pain for a while. He said: “Claude has been playing on with an injury and I think he deserves credit for that. He needs an operation and he is going to have it on Friday.

“He has come in for a little bit of stick lately, which I don’t think he would say he didn’t deserve, but he has been playing in pain.”
