The Rams defensive partnership of Dean Leacock and Darren Moore has held the rams together over the promotion push. The 32-year-old defender has been found guity regarding an alleged incident in last Friday’s 1-1 draw away to Leicester City and has been banned for four weeks. With there being no right of appeal and, barring play-offs, his season is now effectively over.
The likeable Moore, will still travel to Ipswich to support the rest of the Rams squad, denied the charge which referred to an alleged incident not spotted at the time by the match referee.
Rams boss Billy Davies said: “We are very disappointed to have lost an extremely valuable player at a crucial time in the season. His experience in particular will be a huge loss.
“The key thing now though is to look ahead and plan for life without Darren between now and May 6.”

Rams boss Billy Davies added: “‘I’ve looked at the tape and under no circumstances can I see violent conduct or that Mooro intentionally went out to hit the boy.
‘I think he has caught him and I think he has been clumsy. And I think the referee had a good view of what took place but in no way is that violent conduct.
‘The player we are talking about, Darren Moore, does not go out and intentionally elbow people in the face.
‘He has been playing for years and has never done that, and he is not going to start now. If he did do it to you, your front teeth would be missing.
‘It is nothing more than clumsy and does not deserve the attention it is getting.
‘I have spoken to Mooro and he is adamant that under no circumstances did he do it intentionally.’
