The Rams received good news today with defender Dean Leacock cleared of any major damage on a knee injury.

The 22-year-old visited specialists yesterday and scans on his knee came back clear, which is a relief for Coach Billy Davies. The defender also broke a bone in his hand against Stoke but his knee was the major concern.

Leacock lasted only 16 minutes of Wednesday’s home defeat by Stoke City and with Darren Moore returning after a one match ban, he should come straight back in to the side to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Rams boss Davies said: “Darren could come back or I might even keep Marc Edworthy there.
“Marc was tremendous when he moved across from right-back against Stoke, and he was also excellent when he filled in at Cardiff earlier this season.”

The injury means Leacock’s run of 20 consecutive League appearances will end but the Derby County defender looks like missing only one game.
