Derby County brought in two players on deadline day with moves for Sam Winnall and Maikel Kieftenbeld.

Winnall has moved to Pride Park on a season long loan as part of the deal that took Jacob Butterfield in the opposite direction. The 26-year-old striker scored 48 goals in 116 appearances for Barnsley before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in January 2017 and helping them reach the playoffs. He will not be allowed to play against his parent club as part of the deal.

Kieftenbeld joins Derby on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a two year deal and will link up with Gary Rowett again after he was the man to take him to Birmingham City. The former Holand Under-21 midfielder made 92 appearances scoring five goals for The Blues and has had spells at Go Ahead Eagles and Groningen in his home country.

  • Kieftenbeld’s move has fallen through,a piece of paperwork was apparently signed in the wrong place and a week on after transfer deadline day it has been revealed he has returned back to Birmingham.Gary Rowett will be extremely frustrated,he also tried to lure away from Birmingham their young star Che Adams and midfielder David Davis, bids for the latter two were never going to be accepted however he has been very unlucky losing MK over a mis signed bit of paper.
