Rams boss in demand

When Billy Davies joined the Rams in the summer of 2006, a number of supporters thought it was a rushed decision from the new committee. But they will be eating humble pie at the moment, with the Rams flying high at the top end of the Championship. But success brings media speculation and it`s been reported that Davies is in pole position to replace Lawrie Sanchez at Fulham in the summer, and Stuart Pearce at Manchester City.

The Sunday Mirror reported that Fulham have long admired Davies and would have made an immediate move to secure his services following the sacking of Chris Coleman this week. They added that because Derby were facing a critical four-game programme to secure Premiership football and Davies expected to land a £500,000 bonus for his achievement if promoted, the move was put on hold and Northern Ireland boss Sanchez was drafted in as a temporary stop-gap.

Former Scotland coach Craig Brown, who acts as an adviser to Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed, has a deep knowledge of Davies’s ability because he brought him to Preston. If Fulham land Davies, Sanchez could become a target for Manchester City.

Davies was last week reportedly heading for Manchester City next season to replace Stuart Pearce, but Davies seems happy at Pride Park. If the Rams gain promotion Davies will not be going anywhere, and if they miss out this season Davies will be determined to continue the work he has started at Pride Park

Davies has installed a strong player ethic to the squad and coaches with his heart on his sleeve. He has brought professionalism to the club which we hope take them to the Premier ship next season.
