Rams boss getting used to the Stands

Rams boss Billy Davies is getting used to viewing the team from the stands after he was sent there for the third time this season at Ipswich on Saturday.

Derby County’s manager was dismissed at Southend on January 20 and also in the home game against Burnley 10 days later – a decision later rescinded by the FA.
Davies is still waiting for a personal hearing to answer two charges from the Southend fixture.

Davies has hit out at the inconsistency of referees after being sent to the stand for a third time this year.
Both sets of players were taking a drink by the dugout during a break in play following the sending off of Rams goalkeeper Stephen Bywater and Ipswich defender Alex Bruce.
Members of both sides coaching staff stood on the pitch talking to players and sorting out substitutions. Davies appeared to say something to referee Iain Williamson, who took offence and sent him to the stand.

There is some history between the two as It was Williamson who dismissed Davies at Southend.
‘That’s the second time he has done me,’ said Davies.
‘I went five yards on to the field when the game was dead and I said ‘can we have a little bit of commonsense here?’ and he came over and sent me to the stand again.
‘I’m absolutely bemused. I’ve got nothing to apologise for. I understand he has sent me off for entering the field of play when the game was stopped but that’s an inconsistent decision.
‘Without being disrespectful, it seems OK for Mr Mourinho and Mr Wenger to run 45 yards on to the pitch and nothing happens to them,’ added Davies, referring to this season’s Carling Cup final between Chelsea and Arsenal.
Asked if he feared having the book thrown at him by the FA and a possible touchline ban, Davies replied: ‘Who knows? It’s OK for some to go on the pitch but not others, so who knows?’

Davies had some support from his opposition coach on Saturday, Ipswich boss Jim Magilton. He said: ‘I think sending Billy to the stand is a cop out, unless Billy has been abusive.
‘The referee should have taken someone of Billy’s experience to one side and asked him to calm down.
‘I’ve been in similar situations. These games are crucial and referees have to understand the importance of these occasions.’
