Derby County manager Billy Davies has been charged by the FA with using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official. The charge relates to Davies’ conduct during Derby’s 1-0 victory against Southend United last weekend.

The Rams manager was left fuming by the actions of fourth official Ian Bentley who was involved in a constant and needless run-in with Davies through-out the game at Roots Hall. Davies was constantly being told about coming out of the technical area, and it came to a head 10 minutes into the second half when Bentley called over referee Iain Williamson, and he then ordered Davies to the stand, claiming he had used foul and abusive language to the fourth official.

Davies has until February 6 to respond to the charge
