Departures are something that Derby fans should prepare for in January. This is something that Nigel Clough has warned us about, but is it really a surprise?

“We have to get the situation at this club back on an even keel. I was aware of this when I became boss and I’m sure our fans are clever enough to know too.

A lot was spent before this year and the last part of our Premier League parachute money has gone.

When offers come in, they’ll be considered on their merits as always.”

Clough was talking to Sky Sports.

Plenty of players have been trimmed from the playing staff since Clough arrived but more, and the more saleable assets, could well be sold in January to help further balance the books with Rob Hulse, linked with Middlesbrough and Wolves, and Kris Commons the most likely to be moved on?
