The Rams travel to the site of their biggest away win of last season to face a Plymouth Argyle side who have lost their last two games.

The match is a good opportunity for Nigel Clough’s Derby side to continue their recent good away form which has seen them go undefeated in the last five games away from Pride Park.

Rams fans will inevitably be focused on the Forest game on Saturday, but Paul Mariner’s Plymouth provide The Rams with a decent chance to continue the unbeaten run which will doubtless fill them with confidence for the big derby clash.

Vital Quotes:

Nicky Hunt’s signing until the end of the season has given Clough a boost in his bid to create a consistent and solid defence. He said: ‘Nicky has been tremendous for us so far and we’re delighted he is staying on. With the more games he plays he will only get better.’

Plymouth manager Paul Mariner says he may have a new signing in time for the clash with The Rams, he said: ‘We may have a player come in prior to the game but he’s already with another club, so, until that comes to fruition…

‘We would like it to be for the rest of the season but it may be short-term. One other player that we have targeted has got a slight injury that we need to address.’

Plymouth Argyle Team News:

Jamie Mackie should return to the side following flu and Reda Johnson may return to the side after his country, Benin, were eliminated from the African Cup of Nations. Kari Arnason and Chris Barker are doubts so Johnson will likely replace one.

Player to watch: Jamie Mackie

Striker/winger Mackie doesn’t boast the greatest scoring record but he can prove a tricky customer, and is one of the few Plymouth players attracting interest from higher placed Championship clubs.

Derby County Team News:

DJ Campbell may return to the side and could partner Steve Davies in attack as they looked a good partnership against Peterborough United. Kris Commons, Chris Porter and Rob Hulse are also in contention.

Player to watch: Shaun Barker

Barker has been in excellent form for The Rams and has played a major role in Derby picking up consecutive clean sheets.
