Oster Training With Derby

John Oster has the chance of winning himself a contract with Derby this summer as Paul Jewell has invited him to train with the club.

Jewell is still looking to add to his nine signings so far and a right-sided midfielder is one of the positions he is looking to strengthen, so the 29-year-old, who was released by Reading following their relegation along with Birmingham and us last season, fits the bill. He can also play in central midfield, which is another area Jewell is looking at so he ticks two boxes.

The Welsh international, who won he last of his 13 caps in 2004, has plenty of experience but has never really reached the full potential that his form early in his career had suggested, with this form earning him a move to Everton from Grimsby for £1.5m as an 18-year-old.

It is not yet known if Oster, who could, will feature in our friendly with Burton Albion on Wednesday night.
