One out to be followed by one in as transfer season hots up

|

Derby County is looking to sell Captain Curtis Davies to a rival Championship side if rumours are to be believed.

Curtis Davies wore the Captains armband toward the end of last season as the Rams jst missed out on the Championship playoff final.

The Rams Captain is wanted by former boss Gary Rowett at newly relegated Stoke City but the Rams are likely to play hardball with Stoke and would look to collect around £3m for the former Hull City man.

If the sale does go through Derby would look to replace Davies who is 33 years of age with John Terry, the 37-year-old former Chelsea Captain and close friend of Frank Lampard.

Terry has won 14 major titles whilst at Chelsea, including 5 Premier League, 4 FA Cup and 1 European Cup title. His experience and guile would make up for the fact he will reach 38 years of age before the turn of the year.  As a direct replacement for Davies, Terry would look to be ideal.

John Terry former Chelsea and England Captain could be an ideal replacement if Curtis Davies is sold to Stoke City

Another stumbling block to the deal may be Terry’s wage demands, it is thought he will take a huge reduction to join his friend at Derby but how much of a drop will he accept from the £60,000 per week he was on at Aston Villa last season? The Derby County top earners were on half of that fee last season.

Should Terry take a drop to £30,000 per week Derby County could come out of the deal with nearly £2m in the bank and a very able replacement in John Terry?

Stay tuned for more news on this and more transfers in the coming weeks.
