Oldham Athletic V Derby County Carabao Cup preview

Derby County has the welcome distraction of the Carabao Cup this evening following their televised humiliation against Leeds United at the weekend.

The Rams travel to Boundary Park in Greater Manchester to take on League 2 Oldham Athletic (Kick-off 7-45pm). Derby is expected to field a very different team to the one on Saturday with several new arrivals being given a chance to show what they can do and put themselves into contention for selection for the Rams first team squad in the League.

Scott Malone newly arrived defender from Huddersfield, Duane Holmes an exciting midfielder from Scunthorpe United and League One Golden boot winner Jack Marriott are expected to feature at some point in tonight’s game.

Derby has a good record against Oldham, the three latest games all going Derby’s way. A League Cup win in the 2013-14 season by a single goal was preceded by a League double in the Championship in 1995-96 season. Derby winning at Boundary Park by a single goal again and at home by 2-1

What is your prediction for tonight’s game, please leave your thoughts in the comments section immediately below this article, or join us in the Vital Rams forum for lively banter.
