A comprehensive win for the Rams in today’s Pre-season friendly against league two Notts County by 4 goals 1.
Derby took to the front foot from the kick-off and with the game barely in its second minute a collected through ball for Luke Thomas was collected and with a clever jink and a left foot strike could be kept out of the roof of the net despite the Notts keeper getting a hand to it.
The Rams continued to dominate throughout the first period and a goal in the 37th minute, again from Luke Thomas was a just reward for the Rams pressure. Thomas now enhancing his already considerable reputation.
Half-time and the Rams lead 0-2
Second half and a near completely new team steps out on to the pitch for Derby County. Frank Lampard being true to his word of giving every Rams player a chance to impress in this series of friendly games. Jacob Butterfield had a frosty reception from certain sections of the Rams crowd, a reaction to his outburst when leaving on loan last season for Sheffield Wednesday.
The game continued much as before with the Rams rarely troubled by Notts and their continued pressure resulted in the third goal for Derby, this time being put away by Mason Bennett, the striker has been plagued by injury and the goal should put him in Franks Lampard’s thinking for a first-team squad place.
Notts County was handed a slim lifeline when a dubious penalty claim was given by the referee and Hemmings scored for Notts County making it 1-3 with 15 minutes to play.
The Rams completed the scoring in the 83rd minute when a well struck shot from Tom Huddlestone from outside of the box found the corner of the Notts County net. The scoring complete and the game over on a pleasant but hot day in Nottingham.
