Match Stats: Derby County v Fulham – Play-Off 1st Leg

Jerome scores the only goal of the game to give Derby a slender lead for Monday nights return leg

Derby County welcomed Fulham to Pride Park for tonight’s Championship Play-Off semi-final first leg.

A solitary goal from Cameron Jerome in the 34th minute of the first half was enough to give Derby the advantage as we head towards the second leg at Craven Cottage on Monday, with hopes of a trip to Wembley to finally achieve promotion hopes after previous seasons where we’ve fallen at this stage.

It was a pure rearguard action from Derby as Fulham dominated possession at 74% and they had 13 chances overall compared to our three. We managed one shot on target, which we scored from, but they were limited to only two chances on target.

A tough second leg awaits obviously, but with the advantage and a similar defensive showing, the hope would certainly be that we can catch them on the break once more and secure the tie and the victory before the final whistle.

All eyes to tomorrow’s other semi-final now between Middlesbrough and Aston Villa as one eye naturally turns to the next stage with one foot already there.
