New signing Chris Maguire is looking forward to the challenge of playing for Derby County and is aiming to make himself a firm favourite with Rams` fans and to push his way into contention for a place in the Scotland side on the back of his displays at Pride Park.

Having bagged a career best 11 goals in a struggling Aberdeen side last season and earning two full international caps Maguire is looking forward to taking the field for Derby and showing everyone what he is capable of. The striker was played out wide and upfront for The Dons last season and when asked what type of player he was and where he will play for The Rams he told dcfc.co.uk:

‘I’d like to think I am a striker that can make things happen. I am always positive I can score goals and take chances when they come my way, but at Aberdeen a big part of my game was setting up goals too for others. I did play out wide for Aberdeen last season at times but my best position is as a striker, or just off the strikers.”

‘I hadn’t spoken to Nigel Clough too much before I signed because I was on international duty with Scotland and then I was on holiday, so over the coming weeks I’m looking forward to hearing his plans for me in depth on the training ground.’
