Derby County`s pre-season schedule continued yesterday as they beat Macclesfield Town 2-0 at Moss Rose with goals from Bradley Johnson and Mason Bennett.

Jamie Hanson played the entire game in the centre of defence but other then that Gary Rowett played a different side in either half with The Rams lining up 4-2-3-1 in both periods. Darren Bent and Nick Blackman both went close inside the opening fifteen minutes before Curtis Davies hit the post with a head from a corner. Scott Burgess had two efforts that failed to seriously trouble Jonathan Mitchell at the other end and David Nugent`s overhead effort lacked power just before the break.

Mason Bennett`s long range effort was saved by Andrew Dawber as the second half got underway and they took the lead on seventy-one minutes when Bradley Johnson intercepted a loose ball on the edge of the area and thumped a low effort into the far corner of the net. Bennett then headed the second with nine minutes to go when Chris Martin nodded Ikechi Anya`s cross back across goal and he angled his header home off the far post.
