Former Derby winger Eddie Lewis has thanked the club for allowing him a smooth passage back to America. By agreeing to cancel his contract Lewis was able to negotiate a return to the States, and he thanks the club for this.

‘To be honest, I owe a great deal to Derby and to the chairman, Adam Pearson. They were fantastic in making it all come together.

‘It was all in Derby’s hands. It would have been dead if they had said they weren’t able to go to the lengths they did to make it happen. Fortunately, it all just sort of worked out.’

Lewis was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

The 36-year-old had his contract terminated by mutual consent at the end of the summer so he could return to America, and has since signed for LA Galaxy. The American international was only at Pride Park for a year, in which time he featured in 27 matches.
