Leeds failed with a late loan approach for Liam Dickinson on Monday’s transfer deadline day.

Dickinson, who joined Derby for £750,000 from Stockport in the summer is yet to make his first team debut for Derby but has spent spells with Huddersfield and Blackpool (who were managed by Simon Grayson, now Leeds boss) on loan this season.

A late move was nearly complete but as Football League sides didn’t seem to have the same privileges that Premier League sides did as far as extensions went, as the paperwork didn’t arrive with the FA until 15 minutes after the 5pm deadline the deal couldn’t go through.

The loan deal will probably be resurrected when the loan window re-opens on Monday.
