Leacock Player of the month
A fine December from defender Dean Leacock made him the choice as the Derby – Vital Football, Player of the Month for December, as voted by the site readers. The talented 22-year-old just edged out 19-year-old Giles Barnes. Leacock received 43% of the votes, with Barnes on 42%. Both players have contributed to the Rams side, which have only lost twice in the last 14 games. Leacock joined the Rams from Fulham for £375,000 and after a shaky start has been outstanding in December. Barnes, who has been a centre of transfer speculation, has put all that behind him and performed well. His pace is electric and his last minute goal at Cardiff earlier in the season shows he can score goals too. If the Rams can keep hold of him it will be a great plus for the Rams. The other votes were Jon Stead 7%, Paul Boertien 5% and Darren Moore 3%. Thanks to everyone who voted.
