Lawrence wanted by former Rams boss before the close of the Summer transfer window

|

Could it be that former Rams boss, Gary Rowett is looking to take Welsh International winger Tom Lawrence to Stoke City? It has been reported in the Sun, that Rowett may be willing to pay up to £10m for the former Leicester player.

The Rams paid £5m for Lawrence, who is showing good form for Derby County at the moment, scoring two goals against Southampton yesterday. This will have been seen by Rowett and he is on the lookout for a winger, who scores goals since the sale of Xherdan Shaqiri after this Summers World Cup.

With the stalling of a deal involving Matej Vydra to Leeds United for a rumoured £11m, it may well be that Derby County will cash in on the inform Lawrence to balance the books and keep within FFP rules, something Rowett will be well aware of and now looks to exploit.

Lawrence wanted to replace Shaqiri (pictured) at Stoke say the Sun, in an offer rumoured to be around £10m

Derby has just loaned some exciting new talent in the midfield and wing areas with Harry Wilson and Mason Mount playing exceptionally well yesterday in the pre-season friendly against the Saints. Disrupting the squad at this late hour, however, would not be ideal preparation for Frank Lampard’s blossoming squad

Rowett has also been linked with a £10m bid for Huddersfield’s former Ram, Tom Ince.
