The result of last month`s Vital poll question – ‘Who has been the best striker ever at the Rams` was won by Kevin Hector with 47% of the votes.

He is regarded as one of the greatest players to ever wear a white Derby County shirt, and played for the Rams between 1966 and 1978, during which time they won the Football League First Division championship twice, the Football League Second Division championship, and reached the semi-finals of the European Cup and the FA Cup.

He rejoined the club for a brief spell towards the end of his career from 1980-1982. He made a total of 486 league appearances, and scoring 155 goals. He was also capped twice for England. His 486 league appearance is a record for a Derby County player.

In second spot was Steve Bloomer, although possessing only a slight frame, Bloomer was a menace to defenders due to his quick thinking. He was also able to shoot powerfully and accurately with both feet. In 536 English First Division games he scored 317 goals and, after Jimmy Greaves and Dixie Dean, he is the third highest all-time goal scorer in the division.

He had two spells with Derby, from 1892 – 1906 playing 375 games and scoring 238 goals. He returned in 1910 – 1914 were he played 98 games scoring 53 goals. He also scored 28 goals in 23 appearances for England.

The other results were Dean Saunders with 10%, Charlie George and other with 7%, Jack Bower 2% and Jack Stamps 1%
