Derby County manager Paul Jewell suffered his second defeat in as many matches in charge after watching his side start off impressively at Old Trafford. Following last week’s heart-breaking last gasp defeat to fellow strugglers Sunderland, it was always going to be a case of ‘How many?’ the opposition would score.
The Rams’ managed to hold the Champions for 40 minutes at the Theatre of Dreams before goals from Ryan Giggs and a Carlos Tevez brace set them on their way. Steve Howard pulled a goal back for Derby with his first of the season to end a run of 7 games without scoring.
Jewell says he’s focusing on the positives but admits his side cannot win games if their defence falls to pieces once breached.
