Robbie Savage, very much out in the cold with Derby this season, has been challenged by Paul Jewell to prove that he wants a first team spot back. If so he needs to improve.

‘It is not about personalities for me. They have got to go on the training pitch Monday to Friday and say: ‘I’m here and if you want me, you can rely on me’.

‘It is not about what players have done in the past. It is about what they do in the present that I’m interested in.

‘This season Robbie has not done enough to get in the team. That’s not to say it won’t change, but he will have to improve.’

Jewell was talking in the Daily Star.

The 34-year-old hasn’t featured for us since August, and is constantly being linked with a move to former club Crewe or the Middle East, and unless his attitude improves then he isn’t likely to play for us again. The impression given is that the former Welsh international doesn’t much care for getting his place back anyway?
