Paul Jewell has backed the backing that the board has given him since his arrival as Derby manager amidst the allegations made by former Rams chairman Peter Gadsby that the investment hasn’t been there since the clubs takeover by American owners in January.
‘Nothing has changed from when I first got the job.
‘When I spoke to Adam Pearson in November, he told me new ownership was coming and what the budget would be, wages-wise, for the following season.
‘He said there would be money available, whatever I generated I could spend and there would be some more to spend.
‘Those parameters have not changed and, had they changed, I would have been the first to be asking the chairman what was going on.’
Jewell was talking to the Evening Telegraph.
If Jewell is happy, and judging by the transfers made so far this summer, as well as the fact that he could have spent more if he wanted from the sounds of it, how can things be as bad as they are being made out by Gadsby?
