Derby County target Michael Jacobs has turned down a new contract offer from Northampton Town and looks set to leave the club. After being named player of the season for The Cobblers for the last two seasons Jacobs has been interesting a number of Premiership and Championship clubs.

With the player being under the age of twenty-four Northampton will be due compensation with the possibility of the transfer going to tribunal if a fee cannot be agreed. Northampton chairman David Cardoza stated his club will look for a fair fee for the player saying:

‘Any club has still got to reach our valuation and no-one has got there yet. We’ll get the right price for him. We’re going to work hard to make sure that we get adequately compensated.’
