Derby County target Michael Jacobs look likely to be leaving Northampton Town summer with their chairman being quoted as saying he wants to get a deal done as quickly as possible to use the money to fund new arrivals at the club. Jacobs has been player of the year for the last two years at Sixfields but with chairman David Cordoza admitting that the player is unlikely to stay the chase for the player looks to be near a conclusion. Talking to the Chronicle and Echo Cordoza said:

‘I suspect that Michael will not sign his contract and will want to move on. I can understand that because there are some big clubs out there who have already had a couple of offers turned down. We are expecting more interest as the summer progresses and we want to get it done as soon as possible.’
