Derby County have completed the signing of Michael Jacobs from Northampton Town for an undisclosed fee although it is believed that this is less than the previous record fee received by the club of just over £500,000 for goalkeeper Mark Bunn from Blackburn Rovers.

Jacobs believes he is ready to make the step-up in levels after having won the player-of-the-year award for the last two season at Sixfields and having seen the facilities at the club he said there was only one place he had his heart set on going. Talking about his excitement for the deal and his belief in his abilities Jacobs’ told dcfc.co.uk:

“I wouldn’t have signed if I didn’t feel I was capable of stepping up to the Championship, so I certainly feel I have enough about me to deal with all that comes with playing at this level. I know it won’t be easy but I feel I’m more than capable of testing myself at this level and making an impact as well.”
