Martyn Waghorn is congratulated by his teammates after scoring a penalty against Hull City, His second of the week against the Tigers

It was tense and a very close game yesterday as the Rams managed their third victory in a row at the KCOM Stadium. A late goal by Florian Jozefzoon stole the three points after a nail-biting 90 minutes of football.

Derby were not the dominating force they were just four days previous in the Carabao Cup but they did create some chances and hit the bar on two occasions during the match.

The Rams had a penalty chance turned down by referee John Brooks during the first half, Martyn Waghorn was adamant he had been fouled in the penalty area but didn’t impress Brooks. The first Rams goal, however, did come from a penalty, this time David Nugent was fouled on his way to goal.

Waghorn was calmness personified as he sent the keeper the wrong way for his second goal against Hull in four days.

Jozefzoon scores for the second time in a week against Hull City to win the game for Derby.

The Rams were not convincing in defence during the game and several chances went begging as Hull looked to get back in the game, which they did with a defence cutting ball through to Kane, who beat the despairing Wisdom and fired into the Rams net.

With time running out Mason Bennett was the last throw of Frank Lampard’s dice yesterday and the run and cross from the Rams forward found Florian Jozefzoon who slotted home for all three points.
