Will Hughes will undergo surgery on the knee injury he sustained at Bolton Wanderers on the opening day with the diagnosis showing an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Hughes went down after appearing to get his studs stuck in the turf at the Macron Stadium and following medical assessment he will now undergo surgery and is expected to miss up to six months of the season. The news will come as a blow to Paul Clement who has been impressed by Hughes in pre-season and expected the youngster to play a major part for The Rams this season. It will be interesting to see if the injury leads to a move for a replacemant with the England Under-21 international now set to miss a large part of the season.
