Lots of Rams fans have been getting rather emotional about one of our former players on social media.
Does he count as ‘the one that got away’?
When he was at his peak, he was being linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, only to end up at Watford. So it’s not as if he’s reached the top of the mountain just yet, and it’s not going to be too big a step down if he wants to ever come back in the future. Never say never.
Today marks the 25th birthday of one of Derby County’s finest academy products Will Hughes. The midfielder racked up 187 appearances for The Rams, scoring 12 goals and chipping in with 18 assists in the process.
Was Hughes our best player of the 2010s?
Yes
No
And on his special day, the club put together a little montage of some of his greatest moments in a white shirt, which led to many fans commenting about his time at the club, with many of them wishing that he does indeed come back some day.
You’ve had your adventure. Time to come home now sweet prince.

Fabulous player , sold for peanuts . Let’s hope we don’t make the same mistakes with Max Bird when the Premier League clubs start to get interested .
