Jeff Hendrick has been working hard since the season ended to make sure he was fit to take part in the Republic of Ireland`s end of season fixtures after being named in their initial squad.

Hendrick came off the bench for the final quarter of an hour in the 1-1 draw with England at Wembley on Wednesday and will remain with the squad for their upcoming friendly against Georgia at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, 2nd June 2013. As well as a World Cup Qualifier at home to the Faroe Islands Friday, 7th June the final match is a friendly encounter with Spain in New York, at Yankee Stadium, on Tuesday, 11th June. Talking to Herald.ie about his work in the off-season Hendrick said:

‘I had a couple of weeks off, but I was working away on my fitness when I had the time off, I wanted to stay in shape. Once I knew I was in the Ireland squad, I was determined to keep up, I didn’t want to turn up for Ireland duty in bad shape. It’s great to be in the squad again. I keep saying this, but I just want to be in as many squads as I can and if I get some game time, it’s a bonus.”
