Derby were beaten 2-1 by Chesterfield in the Derbyshire Centenary Cup match on Saturday, but an injury setback for Paul Green will have been of more concern.

Green got us off to a good start when the midfielder fired us into a 17th minute lead, but Green was soon signalling to the bench that he had a problem with his foot again, the same foot that he broke a metatarsal in last season.

Nigel Clough, along with everyone else, will now be holding his breath hoping that this isn’t anything serious and at the moment thinks it’s nothing more than a possible jarred ankle, which isn’t serious but he didn’t want to take any chances.

Shaun Barker came on as a half time substitute to make his first appearance since his £900,000 move from Blackpool but it was his error that helped Chesterfield to their equaliser, scored by Scott Bowden, with Robert Page scoring the winner.

Patrick Kisnorbo didn’t play as despite Clough hoping that a deal could be agreed with the Australian defender it’s believed that he’ll now sign for Crystal Palace after all, having previously had a trial with our Championship rivals.
