With Derby County heading into the business end of the season, the club has received some good news on the injury front. Stephen Pearson’s foot injury is not as bad as was first expected, but he will be missing from Friday night`s Championship clash against Colchester United, live on TV.

The Scottish international`s injury looked serious, with bruising around his ankle and foot following the weekend defeat at Sunderland. The club thought he had broken a bone in his foot but the scans yesterday have come back clear, to the relief of Rams coach Billy Davies.

He said: “Fortunately, there is no break. That’s good news because it could have been much worse but he is definitely out of the Colchester game.’

Pearson joined the Rams for £750,000 from Celtic during the January transfer window, and has started five of the last six matches. The decision of Davies to drop him to the bench against Plymouth in the FA cup was a little surprising, but has he been carrying this injury for a while?

Davies has a few headaches for Friday night`s game, Pearson will miss the game, unless he has a miracle recovery, and centre-back Dean Leacock also looks set to miss the game as he recovers from a broken bone in his hand and a knee injury.

The game is live on TV, but the Rams are still expecting the attendance to reach the 26,000 mark. Rams fans have responded in numbers, with 23,500 fans which have already decided that nothing beats being at the game, while Colchester has only sold around 300 tickets for the clash.

Match ticket prices are reduced across the board with a special bonus for season ticket holders, who can bring along a friend for a fiver (strictly one £5 ticket per season ticket holder.
