Ghaly shows Faith in Rams

Spurs Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly will arrive at Pride Park today for talks as Paul Jewell looks at bringing him to Pride Park on-loan till the end of the season.

The controversial midfielder looks set to join the Rams and what ever you think of his attitude at his previous clubs he has shown the Rams a great deal of respect by pulling out of the Egyptian side for the African Nations Cup tournament later this month to concentrate on his move to the Rams.

Along with a number of supporters I have criticized the Egyptian and said he wasn`t the sort of player we wanted at Pride Park. But in the latest Derby County vital poll, 88% of Rams fans believed he would be a good signing for us, and his decision not to play for his country and stay in the UK and fight the Rams relegation campaign has put a different light on it.

Many Spurs fans commented on our site how good Ghaly was and that he will be a big assist to our club, so once again I`ll eat my words, and if he signs let`s hope he doesn`t throw his white Rams shirt on the floor this season and he performs well.

Rams boss Paul Jewell said on the club`s official website: “Hossam is coming in this afternoon.

‘We’re not sure about his work permit situation but all being well he will be a Derby County player.’

The 26-year-old has not played since throwing his shirt at the then Tottenham coach Martin Jol towards the end of last season.

The decision of Ghaly not to play for his Country has been met with understanding from the Egyptian FA.

‘Ghaly told us that he will not be able to play in Ghana because he needs to secure his move to Derby County,’ the president of the Egyptian Football Association, Samier Zaher, told BBC Sport.

‘We understood his position, especially as it will be too late for him to find another club after the Nations Cup.’
