Fulham vs Derby County match preview

Will Cameron Jerome’s goal be enough to see the Rams through to Wembley?

Derby County travel down to London and Craven Cottage for tonight’s Championship semi-final second leg playoff game as underdogs against Fulham.

The Rams are however one goal ahead in the tie and that advantage should not be overlooked. Derby just needs a draw to progress to Wembley and Fulham will have to be on the front foot from the beginning to try and claw the one goal advantage back.

Craven Cottage is expected to be a sellout tonight with over 25,000 watching the game and thousands more tuning into Sky Sports to view the spectacle.

Gary Rowett may juggle his squad around with the problems of having two games in just four days. The worry would be that his squad has several players over, or nearing their 30th Birthday and the ageing limbs will not have recovered sufficiently from Fridays colossal effort to go again this evening.

On the plus side the Rams do have the Championships golden boot winner, Matej Vydra on hand to try and latch on to any Fulham defensive mistakes and the on form Cameron Jerome (five goals in his last four games) will surely be an extra factor Fulham can not afford to overlook.

The Rams have only lost on five occasions this season when away from home and have an impressive ten draws. Fulham has had just two losses at Craven Cottage and drawn eight out of the twenty-three games.

So tonight’s game should be close and a nail-biter for both sets of fans with the prize of a day out at Wembley and a chance to progress to the Premiership…….. I can’t wait!
