Steve Nicholson, from the Evening Telegraph, is reporting that we have dropped our interest in Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde because it is claimed the club have ‘moved the goal-post’ by increasing their asking price.

We’ve already had two bids rejected but with the believed to be £2m asking price reached or at least nearly reached with a package around that bracket being put forward, £1.5m up front plus add-ons, Derby chairman Adam Pearson says this valuation has now been raised with them asking £2.5m.

‘The goal-posts have moved – the price has gone up and we are not prepared to pay it.

‘This is not acceptable. We will not be held to ransom.

‘We have formally withdrawn our offer and will watch the situation.

‘It is disappointing because negotiations have been going on for a long time. We felt a deal could be done and the player has said he wants to come to Derby County.’

Pearson was talking to the Evening Telegraph.

26-year-old Bodde has expressed a desire to sign for Derby, but this might be out of his hands now with the offer withdrawn, it might not be the end of the matter just yet though? West Brom and Middlesbrough could however seize on this and see this as their chance to pounce?
