A solitary goal from summer signing Nathan Ellington was enough to see Derby beat Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday night in our final away pre-season match before the new season.

Kris Commons, who has only just overcome his injury problems this summer since his move from Forest, stated his first match for the Rams and went close a few times. Alan Stubbs also started his first match of pre-season as he captained the side. There was no place in the squad for Robbie Savage once again, so having missed the weekend victory over Mansfield this will further add to speculation that he will be leaving Pride Park. John Oster played no part at all, so although no official word has been released this seems to indicate that he wont be offered a deal after his trial?

Ellington’s winning goal came five minutes into the second half as he capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot home to give us another pre-season win in what is yet another match towards the new season.
