The first step in Gary Rowett`s re-bulid of the Derby County squad took place last week with the news that Darren Bent and Chris Baird will have their contracts extended by the club.
The Rams officially announced on Wednesday that the experienced duo will have the clause in their contract triggered that will see them get a further twelve months at Pride Park and keep them at the club until the summer of 2018. Bent has scored thirteen goals in fourtyone appearances this season whilst Baird has established himself in the side having looked to be on his way out of the club after spending time on loan at Fulham last season. Both players know they will now be part of Rowett`s squad next season ahead of the summer break.
