The likelihood of Kris Commons starting against Peterborough on Saturday increased as he played the full 90 minutes of a Derby XI’s 1-1 draw with Solihull Moors on Tuesday.

Scottish international Commons’, who had earlier been called into the national squad after injury, extended run out will mean that his chances of facing Championship new boys Posh on Saturday have seriously increased.

Commons marked this by scoring the opener for the Rams as he converted from the penalty spot after Marc Grocott, a trialist striker, was fouled. John Pugh equalised for Solihull towards the end of a match that also saw Juventus youngster David Junior Toukam, an 18-year-old Cameroonian midfielder, turn out as a trialist for Nigel Clough.

  • Another good test and workout for some that should be involved this season. Good to see Commons on the scoresheet again, as I suspect he will be against Posh!
