Not for the first time in the past 24-hours or so Paul Jewell has been told that a reported transfer target is not for sale. This time it is Stockport that say striker Liam Dickinson is not for sale.

Dickinson’s goals last season helped Stockport to promotion to League One, but also brought plenty of admiring glances from others including Jewell, who is said to be wanting to bring him to Derby and has already seen an unacceptable offer rejected. Us, and others, have been told that he is not for sale by Stockport assistant John Ward.

‘There has been a lot of interest and speculation once again, so when Liam returns from holiday Jim Gannon and myself will sit down and have a chat to him about it.

‘People must remember that Liam still has two years left to run on his contract, so as far we’re concerned he is definitely not for sale.

‘Derby County did put a bid in for him, but to be honest it was a derisory figure.’

Ward was talking to the Stockport Express.

Everyone has a price, so if Jewell offers this price then Dickinson could still be turning out at Pride Park next season.
