Derby Issue Club Statement

Derby have reacted to suggestions made by former Rams chairman Peter Gadsby about the club over the weekend by issuing this statement, which says the owners and management are fully committed and focused to achieving the goals set.

To the supporters of Derby County
‘The ownership and management team of Derby County are fully committed and focused to achieving success and finally bringing the stability the club has lacked for decades.

‘Petty politics has held this great club back from achieving its potential. It is time to focus not on the vanity and egos of individuals but the good of the club as a whole. This ultimately is what the supporters want.

‘The takeover of Derby County by General Sports & Entertainment has placed the club in a far greater and more stable financial position than prior to it taking place, this is a fact. In addition there is now a business plan and a management team with industry expertise and a track record of success in building clubs on and off the pitch.

‘Supporters should be in no doubt that the current financial position of Derby County is secure and growing. Significant investment has been made and significant investment will follow in the future.

‘It is becoming tiresome to continually refute unfounded allegations, which serves only to create a sense of instability at a time when important work is taking place to improve Derby County and create a stable and prosperous future.

‘It is disappointing that Mr Gadsby, whose non executive directorship was an honorary position, with no working or financial responsibilities, has chosen to make a very public attack via a written statement on the current ownership of Derby County Football Club.

‘In the meantime we will continue to work hard to rebuild this great club for the supporters and continue to bring stability and continuity to an organisation that has lacked it for too long.
We will not allow ourselves to be distracted in this aim.’

The ownership and management of Derby County Football Club
Statement from Don Amott
‘I feel compelled as a member of the former board and ownership of Derby County to reassure supporters and local businesses that I have full confidence in Derby County’s ownership and management team and feel very positive about the direction of the club going forward.

‘I am also happy with my current role as a non-executive director. Whatever questions I have are answered swiftly and completely. I have found the current ownership to be extremely open.

‘As a lifelong supporter, who cares passionately for Derby County and sport in general in this city, I would not put my name and reputation to the ownership group unless I knew they had the best interests of the club at heart and the expertise and financial backing to take the club forward and fulfil the potential we all know it has.’

This statement was issued on the official website.

Strong words here that counter those equally as strong made over the weekend by Gatsby, but words that are hopefully exactly what is the case as far as the future of the club is concerned.
