Defending Masters Champions Leicester took part in the Central Masters on Sunday at the Nottingham Trent FM Arena, along with Derby, Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. And it was the old boys of Leicester that came out victorious, and as such they advance to the Masters Grand Final.

The Central Masters, as with all the Masters events, was split into two groups of three, Group A and Group B, with each team facing each other. Nottingham Forest, Derby and Notts County were in Group A, with Leicester, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday in Group B.

These were the results in Group A:
Derby County 2-2 Notts County
Derby County 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Notts County 2-3 Nottingham Forest

This meant that Nottingham Forest topped the group, and so they moved into the Final.

These were the results in Group B:
Sheffield United 2-4 Leicester City
Sheffield United 5-3 Sheffield Wednesday
Leicester City 5-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Leicester’s 5-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the final group match ensured that they, and not Sheffield United, who needed their rivals to win by two clear goals, also advanced to the Final.

The Final, between two previous overall Masters Champions, saw Leicester move a step closer to defending the Masters Crown by spanking Nottingham Forest 5-1!
