Derby have entered the race to sign Motherwell striker Chris Porter, with Adam Pearson admitting that we are ready to rival Cardiff for his signature.

‘Chris Porter is a player Nigel Clough likes and we are aware of his situation.

‘He is a player the club would be interested in signing.’

Pearson was talking to the Scottish Daily Express.

The 25-year-old was due at Cardiff on Thursday to discuss terms and undergo a medical following the acceptance of a £425,000 offer, but Derby’s interest looks to have thrown a spanner in the works? Porter is now expected to hold talks with Derby, assuming we have matched Cardiff’s offer.
