Derby Curse Strikes Again!

Jay McEveley has become Derby player number four to be struck down with a season ending metatarsal injury, something that Nigel Clough has cursed.

“It’s a big blow to us as we are already short of defenders and Jay has been playing extremely well for us since coming back into team.

“We seemed to be blighted with metatarsal injuries at the moment, with Jay joining Paul Green, Steve Davies and Miles Addison who are all out for the rest of the campaign.

“It means we will have to dig in as a squad and make the best of it; we have four matches remaining and it is imperative to get the points we need to secure our survival.”

Clough was talking to the official website.

As well as Green, Davies, Addison, and now McEveley, injury also ended Dean Leacock’s season a few weeks back.

A defence that has already been severely hampered with injury is now hampered even more, thankfully we’re just about safe from relegation now so this shouldn’t cause as much of a setback as it could have.

Why have we had so many injury problems this season? It’s almost as if we are cursed!
