Derby County v Norwich City Match Report

|

The Rams made one change to the starting line up for tonight’s game, bringing back Scott Malone in place of Craig Forsyth. Tom Lawrence is once again on the bench and the £10m strikers in Marriott and Waghorn also start on the bench. Norwich name an unchanged side from Saturday’s game.

Derby was looking to start the game on the front foot and managed some exciting attacking football with Nugent having a shot saved by Norwich Keeper Krul at the expense of a corner.

Wilson goes down but no penalty given

A penalty appeal was turned down by the referee after Wilson surged into the Norwich Penalty area in the 7th minute. Wilson was down for a few minutes following the incident but carried on playing after treatment.

The game continued to flow as both teams liked to play open attacking football, with crisp passing on the floor.

Norwich continues to pressurise the Rams and a free kick on the corner of the box in the 21st minute had to be dealt with by Keogh. This was followed up closely with a  turn and shot by Pukki, the ball looped just wide of Carson’s goal.

Derby responds and gets a free kick in the middle of the Norwich half a 35 yarder is hit well by Mount but deflects off the Norwich wall for a corner.

Mason Mount fouled against Norwich City

Halftime and the teams are level. The football has been played on the whole on the ground, some good one-touch passing and chances for both teams. Norwich may have had the clearer chances but Derby have had their moments but not final shot. Indeed the stats show both teams had 6 goal attempts and 3 shots on target in the first 45 minutes. Derby County had 60% possession to Norwich’s 40%.

The second half is again end to end play. A foul on Wilson sees Lewis from Norwich booked for an elbow, that also takes out the assistant referee. The resulting free kick was disappointing from the Rams.

On the hour mark, Tom Lawrence comes on for Mason Bennett. In the 65th minute, Jack Marriott comes on for David Nugent.

Tim Klose scores for Norwich in the 69th Minute from a corner.  good run from the Norwich man wasn’t blocked and the bullet header beat Carson.

Scott Malone the only change for the Rams strating line-up this evening

The goal prompts Lampard to take off Harry Wilson and put on Martyn Waghorn. Derby have now used up all their subs and have 20 minutes to pull the goal back or try to win the game.

Jaden Bogle is a lucky man to stop on the pitch in the 75th minute as a second booking and red card should possibly have been shown after a petulant kick in the Norwich penalty area.

Craig Bryson scores in the 85th minute a cross from Waghorn was skillfully flicked past Krull to make the game 1-1.

Derby continue to press but Norwich still look dangerous on the break. At the end of 90 minutes there was 5 minutes of time added on.
