Derby County v Norwich City match preview

|

All you need to know about Wednesday’s game.

The Rams will be looking to get back to winning ways on Wednesday as they entertain Norwich City at Pride Park. Derby were bitterly disappointed to lose at the weekend after a week of dominance and success over Brentford in the league and Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

Did tiredness catch up with the same eleven who started all three games, or is there some other reason the display against Bolton turned so flat at the weekend? Derby will be looking to get back to winning ways as quick a possible and the home game may be the advantage the Rams need.

The Rams may want to bring in fresh legs against Norwich, Curtis Davies may not be quite ready to try and claim his centre back position following a hamstring injury but he did complete 70 minutes in the Rams U23 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion U23 on Monday evening.

Referee Geoff Eltringham

The referee for the game will be Geoff Eltringham, the County Durham official will take charge of hisĀ  7th Championship game of the season. Mr Eltringham has had 10 games overall this season and produced 35 yellow cards at an average of 3.5 per game. He has also issued two red cards, one each in his last two games. A rather tetchy game between Oxford and Altringham saw Eltringham issue 8 yellow cards and was busy in the Championship clash as Wigan drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, issuing 6 yellows in that game.

Mr Eltringham will be assisted by John Flynn and Billy Smallwood and the 4th official will be John Brooks.
