Derby County banished all the problems they had against Sunderland as they trounced Bolton Wanderers by 3-0.
The Rams started well and yet again left out Captain Richard Keogh from the starting line-up. This clearly energized his replacement, Alex Pearce, as his header put Derby County 1-0 up in just the 6th minute.
Derby never looked in serious trouble throughout the game but Bolton, playing for their Championship lives, gave a reasonable response but failed to trouble the Rams back line.
Matej Vydra put the ball in the net for his 20th goal of the season in the 33rd minute, following a good move involving several Derby players.
Bolton had to do something to give them hope for the second period and a double substitution
Seemed to be doing the trick as they started the second period brightly. The good start however was undone by the Rams in the 54th minute. A silky run by Tom Lawrence ended all hope for Bolton as his powerful low shot across the keep found the bottom corner to make it Derby County 3 Bolton Wanderers 0.
Derby needed the win to try and secure their place at the end of season play-off’s and also give them confidence for their clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday. A game that could define the Rams entire season.
