Steve Nicholson, from the Evening Telegraph, reported that Derby’s 0-0 draw with Rotherham at the Don Valley Stadium on Saturday afternoon saw Derby disappoint. I quote Steve, who said the Rams ‘struggled for rhythm and were woefully short of ideas going forward’.

Alan Stubbs and Kris Commons once again had to sit the match out due to injuries, with Stephen Davies, tight hamstring, joining them on the sidelines. Lewis Price was selected in goal and Robbie Savage returned to captain the side, which also included John Oster, currently on trail, from the start.

In a match of few chances, from the sounds of it, Rotherham’s Alex Rhodes seemed to have the best chance, although when through following a mistake by Martin Albrechtsen he couldn’t capitalise on the chance as Price saved at his feet. Paul Green had our best chances. The second half was a non-event, which was apparently not helped by the rolling substitutions, with sixteen made in total.

Rob Hulse and Przemyslaw Kazmierczak, who will complete their moves to Pride Park on Monday, both watched on from the stands as we failed to score for the second time in three pre-season matches, which although they do not mean that much will no doubt concern Paul Jewell slightly.
